Ocean Science at Sababa
Do you dream about the rhythm and magic of the ocean? Join Sababa as we learn about and navigate the pristine beauty of Virginia’s Ocean Coast and waterways. Using the Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay as our laboratory we will examine the complexity and fragility of our planet’s Oceans and the creatures who inhabit them.
Sababa scientists will have the opportunity to work with Marine Biologists from the Virginia Aquarium as they trawl an area off the Coast and observe and classify the diversity of fish and marine invertebrates in our nets. We are likely to see key urchins, seahorses, blue crabs and stingrays before we return our catch to the sea. Under the guidance of expert guides and waterman we will explore biodiversity and animal behavior as we kayak amongst Atlantic bottlenose dolphins.
Our experience will include hands-on and service projects designed to provoke meaningful conversation about the world we inhabit and our responsibility to care for it.
This program is geared to be appropriate for those interested in science and those simply curious about the wonder of the world around them.
