Exciting News - Sababa joins Commonpoint Queens!

We are thrilled to announce that we have agreed to team up with Commonpoint Queens, a UJA-Federation of New York partner agency. This partnership will allow Sababa to grow in quality and capacity while maintaining the unique blend of Sababa Judaism, thrilling ocean sports and experiences, and the magic of camp.

Since the 1960s Commonpoint Queens has been a leader in the camp world, overseeing community staples such as Camp Poyntelle, Island Quest Day Camp at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, as well as Queens-based programs Explorer Day Camp, Summer of Arts & Sports, and most recently, Explorer Day Camp at the Queens County Farm. These programs truly showcase the incredible value in partnership - both in terms of shared resources and community building.

We are already benefiting from this partnership, having met with the other camps to discuss best administrative practices, innovative programming, and how we can all help support one another. Additionally, Commonpoint Queens has fallen in love with the Sababa way, and is excited to help us grow our programs so that we can not only strengthen and offer the gift of camp to more families in New York, Virginia and our extended communities, and so that our camp families can receive support and expertise from the plethora of resources that their organization offers.

Commonpoint Queens is a community-based agency that addresses the diverse and evolving needs in New York City and is a place where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to find support, access opportunities, and build connections to community throughout their lives. Guided by Jewish values, Commonpoint Queens has spent the last six decades providing vital and life-changing services including early childhood, after school, senior centers, career help, food access, mental health resources, support during crisis, wellness and so much more.

We look forward to working together with Commonpoint Queens and their multitude of programs, both during the summer and year-round, and we can’t wait to share further updates with you all about how this partnership will add to our Sababa community.

Stay tuned for more information regarding Summer 2022, and if you have any questions about registration, our future plans or anything else please feel free to reach out to us directly.
