INTRODUCING SABABA’S NEW

GESHER JR. COUNSELOR TRAINING PROGAM

Gesher is a Hebrew word meaning “bridge.” Sababa’s new Gesher Jr. Counselor Training Program is a summer leadership opportunity for rising 12th graders to bridge the gap from being a camper to being a staff member.

One of the goals of our Gesher Jr. Counselor program is the development of leadership skills. We hope that as our campers move towards their final summer they will learn how to play a part in creating our Sababa community.

Our Gesherim will spend their first three-weeks participating in all Sababa programs and specialties plus have additional opportunities with members of the camp leadership team to shape their own leadership skills while learning to learn how to care for campers’ emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing and promote positive experiences at Sababa. Starting with week 4, Gesherim will continue their leadership journey as they transition to becoming a Jr. Counselor. Jr. Counselors will support our camper’s daily routines from wake-up, helping lead electives and leading night time Sababa rituals.

We hope that this summer program will provide Gesherim a meaningful closure of their camper career as they begin their journey as camp counselors and leaders at Sababa.
